Getting Around Las Vegas: Airport Transfers, the Strip, and Everything In Between
Updated October 28, 2026 · 6 min read
Las Vegas ground transport has two failure modes. The first is arriving at the airport without a plan on a Friday afternoon when every rideshare queue is backed up and every taxi is taken. The second is trying to move between properties at 1am on a Saturday when surge pricing is in effect and there is no car available. Both are avoidable with about five minutes of planning.
Harry Reid International: Terminal 1 versus Terminal 3
Harry Reid has two terminals and they handle ground transport differently. Terminal 1 covers Southwest, American, United, and Alaska — pickup is on the baggage claim level. Terminal 3 handles Delta, international arrivals, and Spirit — pickup is on the lower roadway, one floor below baggage claim. The difference matters for pre-arranged cars: if your driver is waiting at T1 and you land at T3, the walk and the phone call eat time you don't have when you're tired and carrying bags.
The Strip is three to five miles from the airport depending on your property. On a normal afternoon that is a fifteen-minute drive. On a peak Friday, or during a major convention or fight weekend, it can run forty minutes or more. Knowing your terminal in advance and having a driver watching your flight status removes one variable from an arrival that already has enough of them.
What your casino host typically arranges — and what they don't

At most Strip properties, an established host relationship includes complimentary limo or town car pickup from the airport. This is one of the first things a good host offers qualified players, and it is worth asking about explicitly — hosts don't always volunteer it, especially on a first trip. If you have a host and a confirmed reservation, ask them before you book anything separately.
What hosts do not typically cover: arrivals before you are rated at the property, guests traveling with you who are not part of your casino account, off-property evenings at venues outside the host's reach, and groups that exceed a single vehicle. Those are the gaps this guide addresses.
Moving between properties
This is the trip rideshare handles worst in Las Vegas. A late-night move between the north Strip and the south Strip — Fontainebleau to Mandalay Bay, Wynn to MGM Grand — means joining the rideshare queue at the exact moment every other guest is doing the same thing. After 11pm on a Friday or Saturday, surge pricing is standard and wait times are real.
Off-Strip moves are higher friction still. A dinner reservation at a restaurant that's a short drive from your hotel, a show at a venue that isn't walkable — these are the trips where a pre-arranged car earns its cost in time and certainty, not convenience.
For a single between-property move, Bell Transportation's point-to-point service covers the gap cleanly. For an evening with multiple stops, see the Groups section below.
Groups and multi-stop evenings
Five or more passengers, or a multi-stop evening with a waiting vehicle, is a different category from a single airport transfer. The widget on the /transportation page prices single trips; a group charter evening with a dedicated driver, multiple stops, and a late-night return is a conversation with Bell's group team, not a form submission.
- More than four passengers traveling together need an SUV at minimum — the luggage math catches people off guard
- A vehicle with a driver on standby for an evening costs more than point-to-point but less than four separate rideshares adding up over a night
- Multi-stop itineraries — dinner, a show, late night — need to be quoted as a single charter, not as individual trips
- Lead time matters: group vehicles book out faster than sedans, especially on event weekends
Getting back to the airport
The departure transfer is where most people run late. Checkout at most Strip properties is 11am or noon. TSA at Harry Reid is manageable — 45 minutes buffer for a normal domestic morning, 75 minutes on a busy one — but the drive absorbs time people don't account for.
For early flights (before 9am), the airport is close but the lobby is not calm at 7am on a Saturday. For flights before 11am, you need either late checkout negotiated in advance, or a plan for bags. Your host can often arrange late checkout for qualified players — ask before you check in, not the morning of your flight.
A pre-booked departure transfer is worth the most at the end of the trip. You know your flight time; you know checkout; a car that is already confirmed removes one variable when the rest of the morning is variable enough.
When to pre-book versus rideshare
- Pre-book: arrival with checked bags, early-morning departure, late-night between-property moves, groups of four or more, event weekends (F1, boxing, major conventions)
- Rideshare works: midday moves within the Strip, solo or couple with no bags, off-peak weekday travel when surge is unlikely
- Always check with your host first: if you have an established host relationship, a complimentary car may already be waiting
Frequently Asked Questions
Will my casino host arrange airport pickup?
At most Strip properties, an established host relationship includes complimentary airport transfer. Ask your host directly before booking anything separately. If you don't yet have a host, CasinoHostVegas can make the introduction — and airport cars are one of the first things a host arranges for qualified players.
What is the difference between Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 at Harry Reid?
Terminal 1 handles Southwest, American, United, and Alaska. Terminal 3 handles Delta, international arrivals, and Spirit. Ground transport pickup locations differ between them — T1 is on the baggage claim level, T3 is on the lower roadway. Confirm your terminal before giving a driver a pickup location.
How long does it take to get from Harry Reid to the Strip?
Fifteen minutes on a normal afternoon. Thirty to forty minutes on a busy Friday or during a major event weekend. The distance is three to five miles depending on your property; traffic, not distance, is the variable.
What is Bell Transportation?
Bell Transportation is Las Vegas's largest ground-transport operator — sedans, SUVs, and coaches serving Harry Reid International, the Strip, and off-Strip destinations. They handle single transfers, point-to-point moves between properties, and group charters.
Can I get a quote without booking?
Yes. The quote form on the transportation page connects to Bell's reservations team. Submitting a quote request does not complete a booking — Bell follows up to confirm details and collect payment directly. No prices are guaranteed at the quote stage.
